In summer, 2011, the Vicky Sartor Youth Activity Center was completed. This facility has been an amazing addition to the resources we have available on our church campus.

 

This 4,000 sq ft structure features:

• 2,400 sq ft of open area for youth activities, worship services, and other events
• a small kitchen
• a 900 sq ft dining/meeting room / kitchen
• a 700 sq ft meeting / media room
• two restrooms and two showers
• a 2,100 sq. ft. multi-use sports court

The YAC project is was funded solely from YAC earmarked donations.   In addition to being "home base" for our Youth, the Sunday Glory service is held there, along with a variety of other group meetings and functions.

 

 

Thanks to a very generous gift, we have constructed a 35' x 60' multi-purpose sports court (photo on left).  Basketball, paddle ball, four square, hopscotch, volleyball, and shuffle board are some of the games that can be played on the court.  The court is lighted and fenced, adjacent to, and accessible, from, the existing children's playground.

 

Combined with the the sand volleyball court we constructed a couple of years ago, we now have a wonderful area for outdoor recreation and fellowship.

 

 

 

 

 

YAC Work Completion Timeline

As of October, 2008

• purchased and erected a new shed to house the grounds maintenance equipment
• ran electrical power to the new maintenance shed
• ran phone, internet, and video cable out to the YAC building

As of November, 2008

• cleaned-out the existing portion of YAC building and moved-in the Youth furniture, sound equipment, TV, etc. so they can start using the facility now on a temporary basis
• laid-out a stone-lined pathway from the parking area back to the YAC, using leftover limestone blocks from this summer's landscaping projects

As of March, 2009

• sports court site preparation completed and concrete being poured
• wooded areas behind the sports court, and around the YAC, have been cleared of brush and stumps (thanks Richard, The Youth, and The Men!)
• initial draft of YAC drawings prepared and reviewed
• sports court completed

As of May, 2009

• YAC blueprints completed and being reviewed by the Village for permitting.

As of June, 2009

• YAC blueprints reviewed and approved by the Village.

As of December, 2009

• concrete poured
• steelwork erected
• doors and windows installed

As of February, 2011

• interior framing has been completed

As of March, 2011

• interior electrical wiring has been completed
