------------------------- Haiti Update -----------------------------------
As the situation in Haiti begins to stabilize, UMCOR is assembling a list of volunteers interested in going to Haiti for relief/recovery work. If you are interested in serving in Haiti please go to http://secure.gbgm-umc.org/HaitiVolunteer/ and register to participate. Once the doors are open to go and UMCOR get the leadership needed to lead a team, they will let us know. Because of the horrific situation they do not expect to have any teams going into Haiti before April. The recovery process is still ongoing. Contact JD if you have any questions.

Salado United Methodist Church, in conjunction with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), provides a vital ministry in the assistance of victims of storms and other disasters.
SUMC deploys Early Responder Teams to provide post-disaster cleanup, and temporary reconstruction to people's homes. In addition, our Responders provide a much needed ministry of caring to those people whose lives have been affected by these events.
We utilize (and need) volunteers of all ages (18+) and abilities for our Early Responder Teams, and for our Recovery Mission Teams. You can help in either (or both!) of two ways:

Training
Team Members. All participants on UMCOR sponsored ERT trips must have attended Early Responder Team member training. The most recent training for team members was held April 27-28, 2009, at Salado United Methodist Church. Contact J.D. at the church office for more information about upcoming training.
Team Leaders. Each UMCOR ERT sponsored trip needs to have at least one member who has been trained as an Early Responder Team Leader. If you have already been trained as an ERT Member, and are interested in Team Leader training, contact J.D. at the church office for more information.
